Kate Sheehan has specialist skills and expertise in civil and commercial litigation.
Kate has extensive experience in insurance claims, construction amd property disputes having previously worked for firms acting for insurers and insureds. In particular, Kate was heavily involved in insurance claims following the Canterbury earthquake events and more recently the Kaikoura earthquake and flooding and stormy weather events.
Bringing a wealth of local and international experience, Kate previously worked as a Senior Associate in a top tier Australian firm in Port Moresby and as an Associate in firms since returning to NZ in 2011. Kate was instrumental in providing advice to major insurance and construction companies in particular in relation to the financing and acquisition of land for the Exxonmobil PNGLNG natural gas project.
Kate has a particular interest in class actions, representative actions and litigation funding.
Kate has a law degree from the University of Otago and was admitted to the bar in New Zealand in 2002 and is a member of the following organisations:
Outside of work Kate enjoys traversing the beaches of Auckland with her dog Ritchie (named after Richie McCaw).
